Yet, John helps the paranormal and learns something about the people around him. Any normal person would reject the latter and welcome the former, but Hold Me makes a compelling argument not to accept either. Gaiman’s wonderfully intimate tale juxtaposes John’s need to help the paranormal against a friend’s intimate request. He’s pretty far removed from a typical commoner and has demon blood running through his veins - but that’s another story. The dark and haunting artwork of Dave McKean creates a shadowy world of horror where Constantine isn’t much for love and all those other nasty things called feelings.
